Malcolm McLaren is without doubt
one of the most well-known and controversial characters of the punk
rock revolution. As the manager for the Sex Pistols he wrote
music history when he generated the hype that made punk famous in
the whole world. Influenced by ideas of the Situationist International
McLaren and his former fellow students Vivienne Westwood and
Jamie Reid experimented with fashion.
At the beginning of the 70´s he tried his luck as the manager
of the New York Dolls and imported the style of the New Yorker
boheme of people like Patti Smith and Richard Hell to
London. The rest is, as they say, history.
At the Punk! Kongress Malcolm McLaren will discuss arts and subversive
strategies. |
