Thomas Groetz, born in 1965, studied history of art, philosophy and ethnology in Trier, works as a writer and publisher.

Book publications concerning punk/new wave and fine arts: Die Tödliche Doris Band 2. Doris als Musikerin (2000) and Kunst< >Musik. Deutscher Punk und New Wave in der Nachbarschaft von Joseph Beuys (dissertation, 2002).

Although Groetz grew up within the spiritual climate of a "no future" generation, he never was really a punk himself. He published numerous articles about the connection between fine arts and music in radio broadcasting. He worked for art magazines like Kunstforum, neue bildende kunst, art, testcard, intro, Texte zur Kunst, Afterall, Pataphysics and wrote essays for exhibition catalogues. Thomas Groetz also brings out publications about artists like Martin Kippenberger, Werner Büttner and Günther Förg, he co-organized the exhibition Lieber zu viel als zu wenig. Kunst, Musik Aktionen zwischen Hedonismus und Nihilismus (Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst, Berlin 2003).

Thomas Groetz held various lectures at conferences like No Future? Punk 2001 at the University of Wolverhampton. And in 2002 as part of the exhibition Zurück zum Beton. Die Anfänge von Punk und New Wave in Deutschland 1977-82 at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf.
