The Kids are Belgiums
most important contribution to the history of punk rock. The Kids
were formed in 1976 in Antwerp by Ludo Mariman (guitar and
voc), his little brother Danny (bass) and Eddie de Haes
(drums). Ludo und Eddie felt that they couldnt continue living
as dock workers after seeing Eddie & The Hot Rods and the Ramones
playing in London.
After the Sex Pistols made it to the top spot in the Britisch charts,
The Kids got their chance: because of their exciting live acts they
got a record deal with Phonogram. Their debut album,
The Kids, was produced by expert Leo Caerts , the author of
the world hit "Eviva España". Despite his background,
he managed to keep the rough sound of Kids alive. The record came
out in 1978 and explosive titles like No Monarchy,
Do You Love the Nazis, Bloody Belgium
and This is Rock & Roll were the songs that
got them started.
Today. The Kids are considered as one of the most important punk bands
on the European continent. Their music was always authentic and genuine.
Thats what The Kids are going to prove at Punk! Kongress. more...

I remember the shivers down my spine seeing Eddie & The
Hot Rods. I also saw the Ramones and then I knew we had that same
music within us. Technically we could handle it, because you dont
have to master the instruments to play punk music Kids-Frontmann
